Animals everywhere

21 Aug

Tried to take a picture of the view from the back of the ute:

After much negotiation, managed to get the boss to agree to let us (me) get a cat, who hated his cat box and screamed for the entire 3 hr drive home. Then spent the next 3 days trying to jam himself into any space that was as small as his cat box

His name is Boris.

Obtained two calves – one’s a week old (Buttercup) who’d got seperated from her mum during a muster, and one’s a day old (Brian) who got left in the yards by himself

After a 13 hr day in the yards – blood, sweat, tears and a little bit of poo. Fit.

What is known as an Alice Springs tan!

Brilliant photo of you both – the tan really suits you! What happens to Brian and Buttercup now? Love Mum x

We have a little calf pen behind the quarters so they’re safe in there…not sure they appreciated the ride back in the cab of the ute though! Feeding them replacement milk twice a day mixed in with egg for extra protein. Brian has scours due to not getting any milk from his mum so he’s on milkshakes – milk and raspberry cordial which apparently will set him right and we’re dettoling buttercup’s leg (she came off worse when a bull pushed her into a barbed wire fence) so hopefully they’ll be ok. After feeding them up they’ll eventually be let out with the rest of the cows. They already come when they’re called!

The first few pictures remind me of my recent visit to White Cliffs. It is beautiful countryside.

It is beautiful. I can’t wait to see it in the summer though when it’s green and there’s water in all the creeks! Hard to imagine now!

Any thoughts?
